לִמְנוֹת יָמֵינוּ, כֵּן הוֹדַע
וְנָבִא, לְבַב חָכְמָה
Teach us to count our days
that our hearts may gain wisdom
The Theme of Institute 2013 is "Limnot Yameinu / Count our Days." Our lives are precious and finite. Time rushes onwards, and we feel the urgency of living fully in each moment. During the 2013 Institute we will celebrate Rosh Chodesh Elul, the new moon of the month of Elul. We will begin the teshuva/reflection of the High Holy Day season, when we re-count our past year and plan for the future. For all of us, the day is short and the work is overwhelming (Pirkei Avot 2:20). The current of time feels different to children, parents, teachers, learners, artists, activists, explorers, breadwinners, young, and old - yet we are swimming together. At institute we'll seek insight from each other and Jewish tradition on how to make each day count.
