Kids Camp 2011

Dear Parents and Children,

We are delighted that you are joining us for Kids Camp at the NHC Havurah Institute!  Camp offers opportunities for recreation, friendship and growth for everyone.  Of course, we are always concerned about the safety and happiness of each child.  To this end, we ask that you carefully read and do the following:

Please print out and complete the Children's Information and Consent/Insurance Formsfor each child coming with you to the Institute and return them to the NHC office via fax or postal mail by July 20th.  The forms can be downloaded here.  These forms are required in order for your child(ren) to participate in Kids Camp.  If you are going to bring the forms with you, please notify the Kids Camp Director at nhckidscamp@gmail.com.

Concerning the Nine Days of Av, if your child will have any activity restrictions due to observance of the nine days of Av, please email us at nhckidscamp@gmail.com.  We plan to have alternatives to time at the lake, as well as a focus on theatre and a cappella singing this year.

Please read all of the enclosed information, even if you have attended the Institute before. This guide to daytime camping and evening babysitting contains important and helpful information.  We encourage you to bring it with you to the Institute for handy reference.

Registration and Orientation: Institute registration begins Monday, August 1st at 1:30 pm.  The Kids’ Camp director will be at the camp location between 3:00pm and 3:45pm if you have any individual concerns to discuss.  Kids Camp orientation will be held at the same time as Babysitting orientation on Monday evening at 7:00 pm in Cheshire.  This is your opportunity to ask questions and receive additional scheduling and classroom information.  All parents should plan to attend the Kids’ Camp orientation, even returning Kids Camp families.

Please volunteer!  Your involvement helps ensure the safety and happiness of the children at camp, as well as supports our hard-working staff.  We invite you to spend time at camp, either leading an activity – such as morning davening, nature walks, puppet shows, storytelling, singing, art and science projects – or just hanging out and doing what the kids are doing.  Bring your kids to camp and stay for opening circle, or volunteer on Shabbat morning!

Parents, you are our partners, please be sure to inform us of anything we should know to make your child's week more secure and enjoyable.  We look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 1st.

L'Hitraot!
